Q: Even Though I Have a Fixed Income, I Get Applications for Credit Cards in the Mail. What Should I do With Them?
A: First, decide whether it is
important or necessary that you have a credit card. Second, ask
yourself whether you will use it responsibly. If the answers are yes to
both questions, then:
-Check the interest rate the credit card companyis charging; whether it is only an introductory low rate, or if it will go up- compare the rate with other companies; -Be sure you understand the repayment terms; whether you can pay the balance in monthly payments or whether the entire balance must be paid off monthly (for example, American Express cards require the entire balance be paid in full every month); and, -Check whether you will be charged an annual fee to use the card- try to find a credit card company that does not charge an annual fee.
